Nice to meet you! I’m Katie, the artist and founder of New Haven Catholic. I would describe myself as a Catholic, a wife and mother of two, and an artist. I started this business officially in April of 2026. After working in banking for several years I had been struggling with a lack of fulfilment in my life, a disconnect between my values and my career, and lack of time with my kids. I realized I needed a significant change to something that not only aligned with my faith but really helped me live it out and help others find joy in it as well.

I have been an artist my whole life, I earned a BFA in Studio Art with a Ceramics concentration in 2019 and had continued to do art “on the side” while working different jobs. When I was pregnant with our second child I started to get the itch to go back to my roots and reinvest in my faith and in myself. I quit my job after two years of going back and forth, praying for guidance, and talking with my harshest critics and best cheerleaders: my husband and my mom, I decided that its now or never so I better give it my all!

Through my two years of praying I kept coming back to the same name “New Haven.” It was the street I grew up on, a place of solace and safety. I also realized that I needed more focus than just doing art for arts sake. I was once told that you can’t make art about art and that felt truer than ever. When I kept praying about my focus during those years this is what kept coming back to me: My Catholic Faith. Is there anything more beautiful or more worthy of my time and effort? My first work with this focus, some screen-printed shirts and a small ceramic sculpture, were images of the Sacred Heart. I decided to consecrate this entire business and my artistic practice to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

To make a long story short, I now strive to be a witness to others through making art to glorify Jesus, Mary, and the Saints.

I will be working some local events soon and will have merch in the online store by the end of May!
